Setting Up Your IX5

Thank you for ordering the IX5 Camera Kit for use with the Insta360 X5 camera. We hope you will find using it as easy as our technicians have. Watch the video below to get step-by-step instructions on setting up your brand-new IX5 Camera kit.

Make sure that you charge your two light mods.

IX5 Camera Kit Setup Instructions

1. Unpack Your Kit

  • Carefully remove all components from the packaging.
  • Locate the camera housing and the smallest Allen key included in your kit.

2. Install the Camera

  • Use the small Allen key to remove the screws from the backing plate of the housing.
  • Place the camera into the housing, ensuring it is secure.

3. Install the Lights

  • Attach the lights to the housing:
    • The top light should face toward the camera’s screen.
    • The side light should face outward, in the opposite direction.
  • Once the lights are installed, reattach the backing plate using the screws you previously removed.

4. Install the Red Whiskers

  • Locate the three top holes on the housing—these are for the red whiskers.
  • Insert a whisker into each hole.
  • Adjust the whiskers so that they are spaced evenly and extend outward symmetrically.

5. Insert SD Card

  • Open the side flap of the camera.
  • Insert the SD card.

6. (Optional) Install the CAT6 Cable

  • If you purchased the CAT6 cable for improved signal, locate the small port next to the rod connection on the bottom of the housing.
  • Use the larger Allen key to loosen the set screw.
  • Insert the CAT6 cable into the designated hole, then tighten the set screw to secure it in place.

7. Set Up the Camera in the Insta360 App

  • Download the Insta360 app on the mobile device you plan to use for live preview.
  • Follow the in-app instructions to complete camera setup and pairing.

8. Final Steps

  • Fully charge your camera, lights, and any spare batteries.
  • Once charged and everything is installed, you’re ready to begin internal inspections!
